<!-- This page needs significant overhaul...for some reason I have totally fumbled this branch. Stewarts of Appin were not main branch but a cadet from illegitimate (legitimated) son of 2nd Lord Lorne. The actual main branch would be Stewarts of Pierston/Pearston who had a coa same as Bonkyll with label of three points. Principal cadets are Lords of Innermeath and Lorne, later Lords Lorne whos arms is quartered Stewart (with a garb sable) and lymphad with fire of St Anthony...now wrongly linked to Lords Innermeth, their cadets. This branch (Lord Lorne branch) itself was divided into: Stewarts of Durisdeer, Stewarts of Balveny, Stewarts of Grandtully, Stewarts of Atholl (Lord Innermeath) and finally Stewarts of Appin and Ardsheal. Some of these branches had branches of their own...actual branches of Appin are:  Achnacone, Fasnacloich, Invernahyle (including their own branch of Strathgarry and Innerhadden) and Ardsheal...the last being later main/senior branch. Stewarts of Appin are specific in a way that they literally converted into a fully highland Scottish clan with basically all branches (save Achnacone) using the same arms and considering themselves one proper highland clan -->
