Talk:House of Agoult
@ Finellach: I'm curious, if a son inheriting his mother's possessions and continuing her line isn't matrilineal what is your definition of it ?
- Sure it is, but he still has a father and agnatically is a branch of his father's house, even if the son takes his mother's name. The Ponteves and Simiane branch both stem from sons of Agoult i.e. they are scions of Barons of Sault, but they adopted the names of their mother's houses/families and were thus matrinlineal of previous Ponteves/Simiane branches, but agnatic still of Agoult. So if we had a page which dealt with Simiane family (both the original and the one following from Agoult) then we could put a matrilineal cadet branch underneath which would be the 2nd house of Simiane, stemming from agnatic descendants of Agoult de Sault.
