The Blacks were the faction of lords and nobles who remained loyal to Princess Rhaenyra and her claim to the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms — citing the monarch's prerogative in choosing a successor, as in the case of King Viserys I Targaryen upholding Rhaenyra's rights as the Princess of Dragonstone in 105 AC through solemn oaths of obeisance from the lords of the realm.
