<!-- The line of Leinngen-Westerburg starts with Margaret of Leiningen who married Kuno I of Westerburg. As the main line of Sarrebrucken-Leiningen died out the inheritance fell to Margaret and from her to her grandson Reinhard IV/I in 1479 since her son Kuno I preceded her. The line then continues with Reinhard and his son Kuno II who has three sons who divided the possessions: Philipp I inherits Altleiningen and continues the line as Leiningen-Westerburg-Leiningen; Reinhard II inherits Westerburg and has several sons who succeed him but all die by 1597-1600 and Westerburg reverts to main line of Philipp I; Georg I inherits Schaumburg and starts the line of Leiningen-Westerburg-Schaumburg. The main line of Philipp I i.e. the Leiningen-Westerburg branch continues and later also obtains Rixingen while Altleiningen passes to Schaumburg branch. The main line thus continues until early mid-17th century when it was divided into Rixingen and Obrebronn branches who both went extinct by early 18th century i.e. 1700 and 1707 respectively. The Schaumburg branch of Georg I also continues in Schaumburg until 1695 when it was divided into two main branch by two eldest surviving sons of Georg Wilhelm. The main line here then continues with Christoph Christian (eldest surviving son of Georg Wilhelm) who inherits Altleiningen and Schaumburg thus the main line was from then on referred as Leiningen-Westerburg-Altleiningen. The younger surviving son was Georg II Karl Ludwig who inherits Neuleiningen and starts the branch of Leiningen-Westerburg-Neuleiningen. Both Altleiningen and Neuleiningen branchs are still extant.
