<!-- A junior line of Baden-Baden since 1527 this line became the main and only line of Baden upon the extinction of their parent branch of Baden-Baden in 1771. At that point this branch became Margraves of all Baden margraviates. From 1803-1806 created Electors of Baden and from 1806 Grand Dukes of Baden. However, the main line dies out in 1830 and then reverts to Leopold who was the eldest son of Charles Frederick, 1st Grand Duke of Baden from his 2nd morganatic branch. Leopold, as said, was issue from 2nd morganatic marriage and as such was not eligible to inherit the duchy, however with the extinction of the main line eminent Charles, 2nd Grand Duke issued a pragmatic sanction in 1817 proclaiming that the issue of his grandfather's 2nd marriage was eligible to inherit thus making way for his uncle Leopold to succeed as Grand Duke in 1830.  -->
