<!-- The line starts with Heinrich I (younger son of Simon I of Sarrebruck) who founded the castle and County of Zweibrucken. He was succeeded by his son Heinrich II who married Agnes of Eberstein, heiress to part of Eberstein county. After his death in 1282/84 his three sons: Simon, Eberhard and Walram divided the county. The eldest along with older possessions inherited from his mother castles Stauf and Gollheim and administered part of the County of Eberstein calling himself Count of Zweibrucken and Lord of Eberstein i.e. Zweibrucken-Eberstein. Simon I was succeeded by his son Heinrich III who died without issue while his brothers either preceded him or took up church careers thus the main line died with him. Eberhard the 2nd son divided the rest of the county with his brother Walram and eventually exchanged his possessions with the Duke of Lorraine receiving the Lordship/Barony of Bitsch/Bitche, later this line inherited Lichtenberg and Ochsensein/Oxenstein castle...this line went on up until early 17th century when the heiress married into Hanau family starting the Hanau-Lichtenberg branch. The youngest brother Walram inherited the Zweibrucken castle and his line lasts until 1394 when Zweibrucken goes to Wittelsbach-Palatinate family -->
