The Sentinel was created in 1935 by King Charles II to counter the growing influence the Legion had over the youth of Romania. Its members were known as Sentinels, and used a form of the Roman salute as greeting. Its leader, King Charles II, was known as the Great Sentinel and the Sentinels had to swear allegiance to him in the form of a credo.
