Leopold, as said, was issue from 2nd morganatic marriage and as such was not eligible to inherit the duchy, however with the extinction of the main line eminent Charles, 2nd Grand Duke issued a pragmatic sanction in 1817 proclaiming that the issue of his grandfather's 2nd marriage was eligible to inherit thus making way for his uncle Leopold to succeed as Grand Duke in 1830.  -->
