Founded in 10 AC by Aegon I and Visenya Targaryen, the Sworn Brotherhood of the Kingsguard are the royal bodyguards of the Iron Throne.
Members are sworn for life, forbidden from land claims and marriage, and consist of no more than 7 knights chosen by the King.
