The arms of Le Scot or just Scot (Scotia) of Huntingdon and later of Chester was: Or, three piles gules, see here. This is the earliest variant of the arms. Later variants of the arms continued in the illegitimate line of Brechin and Wishart showed the piles conjoined or in point, see here and here. Meaning the piles now converged on a single point at the bottom. The variant with two piles (also conjoined) stems from a 1800s portrait of Dervorguilla of Galloway, showing erroneous version the arms in number and style of the piles.
