New Arms requests
Alexander the Great - Starting with Livro requests...this one is for Alexander the Great as one of the Nine Worthies, himself being one of the three pagan worthies. Arms is same as Norway but the lion is sitting in a chair (throne?)
Manuel I - Joint arms of Manuel I of Portugal and his queen-consort Maria of Aragon. I have already made a similar arms which has less castles than the source image so whichever you choose, 8 is more than enough since I believe the castle is just an artistic expression by the author. The arms in question is a cross between Portugal and arms of Maria of Aragon. The half shield of Portugal is from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha arms.
Pedrosa - The arms is 5 stones in saltire, on the middle stone an eagle displayed sable. Arms is similar to the one with other circular shapes such as Atorella only difference is these are not exactly "circular" as we are talking about stones/rocks.
Valente Livro - There already is an arms for Valente on the site but it is wrong at least for Livro. The Livro shows the lion with only two lines across and furthermore the lines are in fact filled with bezants. To show you what I mean by that: variant 1variant 2. These two examples show the arms of Valente ancient arms, the bezants were later removed and that is the arms variant we have currently. As said and as you can see from Livro source, the variant in Livro has only two lines instead of proper three.
Lago - Arms of Lago - no need for elaboration, the image pretty much speaks for itself
Ornelas - Arms of Ornelas shows shield azure, bend gules with three gold lillies, on each side a siren holding a comb and a mirror
Gil Vantvisyet - Livro image, quartered Or and Azure, not sure what those things are in 1st and 4th quarter but it sure looks like some kind of shoes. 2nd and 3rd quarter a moor's head, over all a cross gules hollow argent
Pachecho Livro - source image. The arms of Pachecho in Livro seems like a hybrid of several cauldron variants we have: Pachecho, Manrique de Lara, Lara Ancient. The elements on the cauldron seem to be vaire nebuly similar to Vasconcelos f.e.
Afonso Garces - Again the source image is pretty straightforward, complicated but clear.
Gabriel Goncalves - source image. Arms is double-headed eagle holding a moor's head, all withing a "rope bordure" similar to Eca i.e. Eça arms.
Bairros Livro - source image. The Livro image shows three branches throughout the arms as opposed to Bairros proper which shows just three plain branches. In Livro branches are literally like three bends
Abul - source image - shield split in two. First half shows an imperial eagle like in the arms of Charlemagne, the other half is azure with a fess gules, fess gules charged with crescent argent, below fess two crescents gules.
Duarte Brandao - source image, shows two dragons Or, intertwined. The dragons/serpents are the same as in Serpa arms for example
Coelho Livro - source image. This arms is a similar case like with Valente. We already have a Coelho variant but it is wrong. The lion doesn't have bend but they are in fact proper lines (fess) and there is three of them. The lines are also vaire nebuly (azure and Or) like on Vasconcelos f.e. The non-Livro variants usually showed the lion with three lines chequy (azure and Or). The color of the lion is purpure btw but the color went darker as with most images in Livro, as you can see from the source image as well where the lines with nebuly azure are much lighter and proper blue color.
Botos - source image shows a shield divided per saltire Or and gules, Or quarters charged with a Moor's head, gules quarters charged with argent towers
Viveiro - source image shows a shield quartered. 1st and 4th quarter are similar to Guzman or Manrique de Lara cauldorns (not so many serpent heads), cauldrons are completely chequy argent and gules on a azure field, bordure ermine. 1st and 3rd quarter are a variant of Fajardo quarters, water part seems smaller on this variant than on the example linked, while the branches are intertwined in a saltire.

Duchy of Zara - Duchy of Zara located at city of Zara or Zadar. The only coat of arms missing to complete the Austrian Empire page. The arms show Saint Chrysogonus on a horse, dressed as a Roman soldier.
Rothschild - arms of Barons Rothschild, the arms was awarded to them by Emperor Francis I along with the title of baron. The titles and arms were later recognized in UK along with a british title of baron as well. example 1, example 2, example 3, example 4
Canton of Glarus - Glarus is ususally depicted as a monk, although the exact compositions vary. Similar to the monks in Zurich Roll 4. Sources and examples of Glaurus arms: wikipedia page about the arms, example1, heraldry of the world page
Iturbide - source example Arms as Princes of Iturbide, prior to that with no escutcheon, noble family from Navarre ennobled in 15th century by John II of Aragon, perpetual mayors/magistrates (Alcaide) of Batzan Valley, moved to "New Spain" (Mexico) in 17th century
Augustin de Iturbide arms as Emperor of Mexico 1822-1823
Maximilian I of Mexico - Arms as Emperor. Born as Ferdinand Maximilian Joseph von Habsburg, younger brother of Franz Joseph I of Austria.
Free City of Augsburg - Arms of the city of Augsburg. One of the oldest free cities in Germany, had a well established burgher/patrician nobility similar to some of the Italian cities...such as powerful Welser family and so on. Been forgetting about this one for a while now. The arms is literally the arms of the Prince-Bishops of Augsburg with a green pine cone on top of a golden fountain-like structure. I was thinking about making it myself by combining the fountain from Muzaka arms and the pine cone from Donzy f.e. but I don't think that would be approved or lead to a desirable outcome. Some sources: Augsburg arms history, HotW page, example 1, Example 2, Example 3, Example 4.
I'm fairly sure that structure's actually a capital (the top bit of a greco-roman column). I thought these were bees since they had the same model as other bees coa's. Sry. :p Finellach (talk)

No worries, I thought so to at first. Need to update those later on. :)
Also, I forgot. Feel free to start working on Livro, I will help out in any way possible. JSpuller (talk)

Will do...I'll start looking into it the next few days. BTW I wanted to ask you something for some time now...where did you find the info on this Neopatria arms? I've been trying to look around and can't find anything...I always get pointed to this coa which was apparently used by monarchs of Aragon/Sicily. Is that the coa of the vicars i.e. governers of the duchy? Because the duchy literally had a nominal feual ruler which was the King of Aragon/Sicily and the vicars who were governing the duchy in their name. Also while I am on this...the Catalan Company used the arms of House of Barcelona on their seals. The front shows the figure of Saint George and the back shows the arms with four pallets. Also they used various flags, but mostly the flag of St. George so that can be used as well.

I found it in Vigilii Ruberi Wappenbuch, https://haab-digital.klassik-stiftung.de/viewer/image/1249054540/26/, most likely attributed. For the saltire arms, I haven't been able to find any source for that arms other than the svg files on Wikipedia.

The arms of the Catalan Company was actually St George killing the dragon, not the four pallets.:
"After april-May 1305, the Company used a banner and a seal displaying St George, patron of Catalonia".
"Muntaner was also the keeper of the Company's seal representing St George, it's patron, used for the authentication of the documents it passed"

"https://books.google.hu/books?id=yIC1CwAAQBAJ&lpg=PA169&ots=mHmNGBhE5g&dq=mutaner%20was%20also%20the%20keeper&pg=PA169#v=onepage&q=mutaner%20was%20also%20the%20keeper&f=false"
Hey! I was wondering if there's a full scale version of an Alerion I could use for the Lower Alba/Nilfgaard coat of arms and the Alba Division banner. The one currently available in heraldic elements doesn't scale properly with regards to the stroke, so it would be great if there's a full scale version.

That is interesting. It seems me both these variants are attributed. I am pretty sure the saltire arms has a source as well but I'll need to ask around to confirm it. Finellach (talk)

Hi, I noticed the heart in the file House of the King.svg is warped for some reason and I am unable to find the reason why. I am also wondering if you know why when uploading svg files they are saved as the wrong size even though they are saved as the correct 820x952 pixel size.

Thank you,

Hello Eshogun,
Ok besides the requests I trust you saw some of the arms I made recently so while I believe they are good enough and in tune with your style I will still post them here so you can update or whatever.
First is the arms I made for Langres...this is the source image. Elements are taken from Estrades (lion) and the stars are from one of the Douglas Toison variants but flipped by 90 degrees and aligned aligned by stars in Douglas Lochleven arms
Second arms is I made for Orkney, I am not really sure of this one since it's a composite and mix of various ship-boat arms you made. The source image is this while my attempt is this. I've combined elements from at least 3-4 different Orkney/Caithness ships-boat arms trying to (re)create the ship with the exact or similar sails as on the source image.

Quick question. In preparation for the Dering roll, I've been filling my column for pre-existing items (trying to do this more carefully this time since I missed quite a few in the past) and noticed that I'd probably end up with all three styles of martlets (Paynel for ex has two different styles). This means I'll make specific versions where needed ofc but do you have a preference about those ? I've only been using the Mello type until now so I'd probably go with that one, but I've been wondering about this for some time now. Solo (talk) 15:00, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

The martlet/merlette issue hasn't really fully been resolved yet . The bird, originally a small blackbird, then a generic small bird, then a bird without feet and even later without beak, the species of the bird interpreted variously depending on the country, http://www.heraldica.org/topics/martlet.htm

I've divided the small bird into three types, to show it's "evolution" more or less;
Recent Uploads
1. Small blackbird (early variant, without feet, as in the Gelre Armorial, Bellenville, Bergshammar and others)
Hi Spuller,
2. Marlet, swallow, English variant.
I wanted to apologize for my recent upload of House Roote, that made the site crash, I'm pretty new working with Illustrator.
3. Merlette, canette/duckling, French variant
However the marlet in the Dering roll looks like canette/duckling, but with feet and beak, https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/36/DeringRoll.jpg
