His eldest son and heir Philip being the progenitor of Earls of Carlisle. This branch in particular stemmed from Sir Charles, William's 2nd son who owned Croglin Hall in Cumberland. This Charles had a son John who had a son Ralph who had a son Robert, Bishop of Elphin in Ireland.
