Reyne-Tarbeck Rebellion

Westeros | Essos | Events | Military Orders

The Reyne-Tarbeck Rebellion was a conflict in the Westerlands between Ser Tywin Lannister, the heir to Casterly Rock, and the Houses Reyne and Tarbeck, former vassals of his lord father, Tytos Lannister, in 261 AC.
It was the consequence of a decades-long rivalry between the Lannisters and the Reynes and Tarbecks, which escalated into outright war when Tywin pressed the issue of Houses Reyne and Tarbeck taking advantage of his father's generosity and indulgence.
The conflict ended with the Reynes and Tarbecks being violently exterminated at Tywin's instigation.
The war has been immortalised in the infamous song "The Rains of Castamere," and is prominently referenced in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire.
