Coronation of King Eric XIV of Sweden
The coronation of King Eric XIV on June 29, 1561 was the first in the hereditary kingdom of Sweden. Eric XIV wanted to create a court based on a foreign model and at the coronation the titles 'Count' and 'Baron' were introduced.
It was the foremost of the nobility who received the new titles. The title 'Count' was appointed to three nobles who were close to the king, the title of 'Baron' was appointed to nine nobles.
His coronation became trendsetting for coronations in the Kingdom of Sweden until the end of the 19th century, the regalia from the coronation are still Sweden's national regalia.
